LOCAL SERVICES
A wide range of provisions (bread, frozen foods, fresh milk,
groceries, etc) are available in the Village Stores open daily
throughout the year apart from Christmas and Boxing Day. The store
also supplies newspapers, some outdoor wear and equipment and
carries an offsales licence.
The Scafell Hotel has a comfortable walkers
bar, which provides hot and cold food and drinks throughout the
day and evening.
A regular bus service (every half
hour in summer) operates to Keswick 6 miles away, stopping
opposite Rose Cottage. During the summer months the bus is “open
topped” and is a great way to see the lake and Borrowdale
Valley.
